Antonique Smith
Antonique Smith, a singer and actress from East Orange New Jersey in 1983 made her acting debut by playing one small part on the television show created by Sidney Lumet 100 Centre Street. Smith started her career as a performer in East Orange New Jersey, beginning in 1983. Her first role was on the Sidney Lumet television series 100 Centre Street. Then, from 2005 until 2007 she appeared as Mimi on Broadway in the smash-hit musical Rent. The actress also appeared in Julie Taymor's 2007 documentary Across the Universe. Two years later Smith displayed both her vocal and acting skills when she took on the role of singer/rapper Faith Evans in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious. Smith was awarded a number of accolades for the role, which has led to being sought-after for other films, including Abduction (2011) which starred Taylor Lautner & Alfred Molina as well as Yelling to the Sky (2011) with Zoe Kravitz and Gabourey.
